My 7year-old thinks he needs a motorized wheelchair – really

I was working on my computer in the family room while the kids were watching some TV on Nickelodeon. Suddenly a commercial for the Scooter Store came on.

“Do health issues limit your mobility?” asked the announcer.
My son looked up.
“Is it difficult to get to the bathroom on your own?” continued the announcer.
“Yes!” exclaimed my 7 year-old son, clearly feeling validated, “It is!”

At this point, I looked up, wondering who he was talking to.

“Do you feel like a bother to others?” asked the announcer.
“I really do,” agreed my son, aloud.

“Have you fallen in the last 12 months?” finished the announcer.
“I fall ALL THE TIME!” GT answered, mystified at how well this commercial knew him.

“If you answered YES to any of these,” continued the commercial, “You may qualify for a free power chair or mobility scooter.”

“MOM!” cried my son, all excited, “I know what my problem is! I need a power chair!”

I laughed, “Son, you don’t need a power chair. Those are for old people.”
“7 is very old,” countered my son, “It’s not like I’m 6 anymore.”
